Be better at making artwork. You want to be an artist. This is a very popular career option. Drawing is a skill that can be used to create anything you want.
Many jobs in our age require some level of art skills. Designing web pages is just one example of the many jobs available. Creating Excel spreadsheets that are more professional for your boss. You may even want to work in a job that allows you to be more creative than others.
Art careers offer almost limitless possibilities. Every company should have a logo or design. Hollywood and movies always require more artistic, creative people to work on projects or films.
To make a living as an artist, you don’t have to work for a company. It’s not surprising that platforms like Youtube and Patreon are so popular these days. Many people can just make art and sell it, or simply show pictures.
It’s kinda crazy, in a strange way. You will see that many of the top earners on Patreon are artists creating artwork. The artwork that makes hundreds of thousands of dollars per month is of a… This is a mild way of putting it.
There are many artists who make a lot of money by doing less-expensive artwork. It doesn’t matter if you just create plain art. You can quickly start a webcomic, or another similar type of website and start earning a lot of money online.
You might consider selling your drawings online or taking on commissions to make some extra cash if you are already a skilled artist. You may not unless you are very fortunate, but you can start earning enough money to replace your job.
Only the beginning
Most people who are interested in becoming artists or improving their art know that the biggest obstacle is just starting. People spend a lot of time thinking about how to draw, model or do other artistic things, but never get around to actually doing it.
Your artwork doesn’t have to be spectacular. You can make it as beautiful as a kindergartener using a box of crayons. The important thing is that it was on par with a child in kindergarten with a set of crayons.
You might find the second one a little more enjoyable once you have made the first one. The next one might be even better. The cycle goes on.
That’s the essence of the practice.
It’s as easy as taking that first step to actually begin. To begin creating art, you don’t need any fancy programs or tools.
You can draw with just a pencil and paper. If you feel really creative, you might even use a pen. You don’t need much to draw lines on a piece of paper.
Digital drawing is a great option if you are still curious. Digital drawing is not expensive. You can use your PhotoShop to do this. A drawing tablet is all you need to computer drawing. Although it sounds expensive, you can get one for as low as forty dollars!
A drawing tablet is not necessary right away. If you have a stylus, you can draw on your regular tablet or phone. You can find tons of apps in the app store that allow you to draw intuitively and are easy to use.
There are tons of free alternative drawing programs for PC that you don’t have to pay a dime (unless you want to support the developers).
Krita is one of the most popular straight-drawing programs available on PC. The interface and design of Krita are very similar to PhotoShop, so you won’t have to spend extra for a subscription.
Even if you don’t know much about PhotoShop, it is very simple to use and easy to master. You don’t have to use it for drawing. It also has integrated animating tools.
Krita has everything you need to create animations in a wide variety of styles and methods. Krita is a great program and you shouldn’t be disappointed.
Krita isn’t the only free program that you can download for your PC. You can probably find an almost limitless supply, though they vary in quality.
- Artweaver Free can be used to draw in a completely new way. Although it is not designed to create high-quality artwork like other drawing programs, it works well with Microsoft Paint. You can draw in 2D and 3D, which is quite strange by itself. However, it also comes with a set of extremely realistic brushes that will make your stick figures pop in high resolution. It’s a great tool for small children, and you can even use it for your own fun.
- MyPaint was originally created as a Linux program. Linux is known for its open-source nature, customization and indie developers. Windows users can find the interface confusing when they first view it. Although the program is as powerful as Krita or PhotoShops drawing tools, I did not mention it sooner as none of this power would be apparent to users if they launched the program. The UI is poor, to be blunt. It is confusing at times, and the order of things (which can make sense once you have used it for some time) can seem strange and nonexistent at first. If you are a Linux user or don’t mind learning the UI, I recommend MyPaint. It is open-source and easy to customize.
- Mischief is a semi-free drawing program. Semi-free is because there’s a free version. However, you will need to pay a single payment of $25 to access all features, presets and brushes. It’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it or whether you prefer Krita or other free programs. It’s free to try, and you can also get the full version for a free fifteen-day trial.
Practice. Practice. Practice.
If you’ve taken the first step to actually start down, then the next should be quite easy. The first piece of artwork you create is likely to be discarded. There’s nothing that you can do about it.
You must put in the effort to make your art look great. Stop worrying about whether your art looks good or not and just draw. Your art will likely look like garbage, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t work to improve parts.
It doesn’t have to be all about improving the whole piece. Start with semi-good faces, then move onto something better. You could focus on your hair, and not worry about how your legs look.
You don’t have to draw the entire figure. You don’t have to draw the entire figure. You don’t have to draw complete figures all the time. It’s a great way to practice drawing figures.
Sometimes practice can feel like a chore. You’ll hate your artwork if your eyes aren’t straightening out or your proportions are off.
Your piece doesn’t have to look professional immediately. No matter how terrible it looks, the best thing you can do is to finish the piece. This means you can use the practice and finished piece you gained from the previous attempt to make the next one.
